Reading the Presidio County map

At 3,856 square miles, the county is roughly the size of a square 62 miles on each side — large enough that crossing it by car can take well over an hour. The Big Bend country is the most remote part of Texas: Chihuahuan Desert, mountain ranges and the great curve of the Rio Grande. Ranching, tourism and border trade sustain a very small population spread over enormous distances.
