Chambers County was established in 1858, named for Thomas Jefferson Chambers, lawyer and surveyor who helped to resolve land disputes for Americans in Mexican Texas, and carved from Jefferson County and Liberty County. It is one of the 254 counties of Texas, located in the Gulf Coast region.
